Almost who
It's the end of the world as we know it. To help you transition to the next phase of humanity, meet Quasi Qui. In their dystopian-utopian sci-fi reality, the earth has split in two. It's up to you to embark on the parallel universe of your choice. Together, Yehan and his sister Zadi are the latest signing to the microqlima label. With their debut album, Downloading A New Operating System, they're not just reimagining good pop music; they're also reshaping the future and imagining a civilization that works for all of us. Comforting predictions that are undoubtedly welcome right now. The concept for Downloading A New Operating System came to Yehan Jehan in fits and starts, in a recurring dream. He describes these dreams as “a collage of cinematic films,” which formed the basis of “City Mashups,” the opening track that blends the influence of Quincy Jones with that of the silver screen. Diverse influences, from British synthpop to American folk music, permeate the album's sensual tracks, such as “10 Years” and “Directorial Debut.” For a perfect balance, European and international touches can be detected. Downloading A New Operating System is an ambitious project for a debut record, with an A-side and a B-side that function as a narrative arc and complement each other just as Yehan and Zadi complement each other in brotherly harmony. “The album is structured to take you from the starting point of this transformation, then take you through all the darkness and frustrations necessary to get to the end,” says Yehan, “and it might even make you feel a little better.” If this is the end of the world as we know it, then Quasi Qui already has one foot in the near future, and they can't wait for you to join them.
